I know this probably isn't the best venue in which to make friends, but I still don't know a lot of people in the area and have nothing to do and all day to do it.

Anyone want to do something sometime? My hobbies include food and beer.

Is there anywhere on campus where there is open access to pianos/music practice rooms, especially in the summer? I know practice rooms exist somewhere in Smith Hall and the Music Building; but, alas, I am not a music major, so I'm not really sure exactly where they are or if I am allowed to use them, or I could use them anyway without bothering anyone.

When you graduate, does it say you have officially graduated on your transcript after grades are posted?
Thanks!

» free (smallish) television available
I have a working old tv that's sitting just sitting around. It's available for free if anyone wants to come pick it up (Parkland College area).

Details: It's about a 21" screen with a nice picture. There's also a remote (which does work, but you have to press really hard--and the battery cover is missing). There is a single coaxial cable connection in the back of the tv, but I have an RF converter which you're welcome to take as well.

There's a picture here.

If you have questions, feel free to post or send a message via LJ. Thanks!

(Failing that, does anyone know where I can appropriately recycle or discard this thing?)

» Vote "YES" for Urbana Parks on April 7th!
Keep the Urbana Park District going strong!!

The Urbana Park District has put a question on the April 7, 2009 ballot requesting a property tax increase of 15¢ for every $100 dollars of assessed property value. With a tax rate increase that would be assessed starting in May 2010, ($50 on a $100,000 home) the Urbana Park District can continue to offer a broad range of services to its citizens, contributing to the health, vitality, beauty and economy of the community. Without a rate increase, the district will operate a diminished park, natural areas and recreation system, no longer operating in the way the community has experienced. Services, programs and other offerings must be eliminated to balance the budget. More information can be found at www.urbanaparks.org.

If you can vote in Urbana please do! Even if you can't vote in Urbana please pass on the event to your friends and help get the word out!
